The Directorate of Vocational Education & Training (DVET), Government of West Bengal, is implementing the Centrally Sponsored Scheme for Vocationalisation of School Education (CSS-VSE) under the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF).
The scheme aims to integrate vocational education with mainstream schooling and provide students with industry-relevant skills, employability competencies, and career pathways while continuing their general education. It seeks to enhance employability, reduce the gap between education and industry requirements, and promote skill-based learning among school students.
Under the scheme, vocational courses are offered to students of Classes IX, X, XI and XII through NSQF-aligned curricula. In West Bengal, DVET acts as the implementing agency in coordination with the School Education Department and other stakeholders.
At present, the scheme is being implemented in 16 vocational sectors across selected Government and Government-aided schools in the State. Students receive both theoretical knowledge and practical skill training, enabling them to pursue higher education, skill training, apprenticeships, and employment opportunities in their chosen sectors.
The district-wise list of schools implementing CSS-VSE under DVET, West Bengal, is available in the attachment below.
